Open Day vs. Assessment Day

Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways organize both Open Days and Assessment Days. What is the difference between them and which one gives you more chances of success? Below you can find an analysis of Open Day vs Assessment Day, with a detailed description of how to present yourself for these events and what to expect.

Open Days

Open Days are information sessions meant to give you an idea of how it is to work for the airline and how is the job described by your potential employer. There will be presentations of the base city, airline’s destinations and expansion plans. You will also hear their cabin crew on how it is to live in the airline’s country, work in the air and serve people from all over the world every day.

Who can participate

Anybody can go to an Open Day without prior invitation from the airline. The airlines recommend you register online prior the event. If you want to do that, by all means you should, however it is not a must. It will not give you an advantage nor will it put you in an inferior position. Once your CV is shortlisted, you will be asked to register online if you haven’t done it before.

How to present yourself

Go to the Open Day as you would go for the interview. That means business attire. Ladies should wear a skirt suit with skin colored pantyhose and court shoes. Put on some light makeup and arrange your hair in a neat manner. Gentlemen, opt for a suit with a collared shirt and tie, polished black shoes, with short and neatly groomed hair.

How long will it take

The time will be advertised on the airline’s careers website. 9:00AM means that at 09:00AM sharp the presentation is set to begin. The etiquette requires you to be there at least 30 minutes earlier than the set timing, find your way to the conference room and get acquainted with the rest of the candidates . If you are late, you will be told to go back home. If you can’t show up in time for your job interview, what are the chances you will show up for your flights?

The process

You will see some informative videos about the airline and their city, followed by a Questions and Answers session. Taking notes is a great technique to show your interest. Also, the notes might prove useful before the final interview. Try to make yourself noticed by asking a relevant question that might benefit more than one person. Make sure that the topic was not covered in the videos.

If you like what you see in the videos and you consider the airline to be a suitable employer for you, you can stay for the next step which is handing over your documents.

Documents to bring

The standard documents requirement is your CV, passport photos and a full length photo.

In addition, Qatar Airways requires a photocopy of the first page of your passport and a copy of your highest education diploma in its original language.

When you apply for Etihad Airways you need to bring in the filled registration form and the required documents attached to the form.

After the informative session, you will be asked to hand over your CV, photos and application forms and do the reach test (212cm vertical arm reach for Emirates and Qatar Airways, 210cm for Etihad). The interviewer will then ask couple of questions regarding your resume (experience, education, etc) and you will be given a reference number.

Depending on the number of candidates, you might be required to wait at the location or go home and expect a phone call with the details of the assessment day if you were shortlisted.

Advantages

If you know that you make excellent first impressions, this is your chance to shine. Even if you have less experience than the other candidates, you might be chosen to participate in the assessment day because of your charisma.

Disadvantages

Some locations have over 1000 candidates participating in the Open Day. Some people don’t even know they have to wear a business attire or bring photographs, however they show up. All of these people will be given a chance to drop their CV, which will make the process very lengthy. By the time you get to submit your documents, 12 hours might have passed.

If your CV was not selected during the Open Day, you can only participate in another Open Day after 6 months, regardless of the location.

Check out Emirates Open Days and Qatar Airways Open Days.

Assessment Days

The assessment is the actual cabin crew hiring method, however it is not just the classic 1-on-1 interview where you sit down and answer questions from the airline representative. The assessment day is an assessment center kind of recruitment. It has different stages. After each stage, there is an elimination round. Successful candidates will get through to the next level. Similar to the show ‘American Idol’…

Who can participate

You can participate in an assessment day if you applied online on the airline’s career website and your application was shortlisted. That means that your profile (experience and education, language skills and interpersonal skills) matches the ideal profile of a potential flight attendant. Now you only have to prove that your personality will be a perfect match for the job description and the airline.

How to present yourself

Whenever you go for an interview, you have to look spotless: professional, clean-cut, elegant and fitting the job description.

How long will it take

In most cases, the assessment day starts at 9AM and finishes around 6PM. Be in time, bring some water and food and try to be yourself. Don’t worry too much about being and showing that you are nervous. It is normal and it shows that getting this job is important to you. You will forget all about the nerves once the day starts.

The process

The assessment day usually commences with an introduction, followed by a group exercise, English test and sometimes a math test and personality profile test. Successful candidates will be given the invitation for the next stage. Unsuccessful candidates will be asked to leave the assessment day after the stage they did not pass.

At the end of the assessment day, the successful candidates will be asked to come back the next day for a Final Interview. This can be 1-on-1 (1 interviewer and 1 candidate) or 2-on-1 (2 interviewers and 1 candidate). Make sure you go through the 25 Questions and Answers for the Cabin Crew Final Interview before the big day.

Documents to bring

Bring a copy of your CV and application photos, copies of your highest diploma and any recommendation letters you have from your current or previous employers.

Advantages

Participating in an assessment day means that your CV meets the minimum requirements for the job and you are already considered to be desirable candidate for this position. During the assessment day you will only have to show your personality. No waiting in line wondering if your CV looks good enough or if your photos are acceptable.

Also, if you are not successful through one of the stages, you will know exactly what to focus on improving for the next time.

Disadvantages

As the assessment day is organized into different stages, you must show that you are very good at every single one of them. It is not enough to be fluent in English and very confident you will pass the English test if you are not able to show that you can work well in a team during the group exercise.

If you fail at any stage of the Assessment Day, you can reapply after 6 month. If you fail the Final Interview, you can reapply after 12 months.

Regardless which type of recruitment event is organized in your country, you must remember that key to success is PREPARATION. Read, get information, know what is expected form you during the day and you will become a cabin crew! Hi kara, hope ya are ok, well I did attend emirates open day today and it was like a c.v submission day .anyway I didnt get a sms that I am moving to the assessment day but thats ok with me cos the assessor didnt read cvs she just looks at the full lenth photo and ask ya a question in general was what do you do.anyway she told us before starting that we can participate in the open days even every month as long as we are not shortlisted and move to assessment day which was awesome to know. Its just 6months of waiting if we didnt pass the assessment day alse she asked us to apply online today , so my concern is if I apply online I got an automatic reply says if I didnt get invitation during next 6weeks that means am not shortlisted and have to wait for 6 months, so what would happen if I apply online and didnt shortlisted and there was an open day same week or same month and I went and shortlisted then what would happen will they continue process with me or check online and see that my application not shortlisted then cancel me or if am not shortlisted online should I withdraw my application honestly its confusing me I really wish ya could clarify this and tell me what the right I should do .sorry for writing much this time and thanks alot for being patient and caring

      Hi Lena,

      The book is available here
      https://gumroad.com/l/qSGz
As for the types of events, for Open days you don’t need an invitation to participate. Just go to the location with the required documents. For invitation only assessment days you must have received an invitation from the airline after successfully passing the online screening process.
      Good luck!

Hello! I just applied online and I’ve noticed that it says ‘Submission Status: Application Unsuccessful’. By any chance, do you know if I got rejected? I did not receive an email and I wondered if you know any experiences like this occurred. Thank you in advance!!

Unfortunately Charmaine, having this status means exactly what it says: your application has not been successful. You can reapply for the same position after 6 months.

    Hi Kara,

By the way, I bought your 101 questions for Final Interview. Really helpful! <3

I made it through the Final Interview for QR and my application status says "Interviewed-Feedback pending."

We were all advised to upload photographs on their portal, but that was last week and we all couldn't do it and it said "contact HR dept". Just last night, some of us received an email and were advised again to upload, but this time their uploads were successful. Those of us who haven't received an email still could not upload.

    Starting to get worried now.

    Hi Kara,

I was invited and attended a “assessment day” in Sydney early September.
Although there was only one Recruitment Specialist there and due to the large amount of people that attended the day, the assessment day seemed to turn into more of an Open Day. She just went thought the group (150+ people) took our resumes, did a quick presentation on Emirates, then said she would go through the resumes and call certain people to be invited back to the assessment day the following day. To my disappointment I did not recieve a call.
But 2 days ago I recieved another email from Emirates saying they have reviewed my application and have asked me to attend one of the assessment days over Australia of my choice.
Now my question is, Do I have to wait the 6 months to attend another assessment day? Or becasue I didnt particpate in the acutal assessment day, and essentially just dropped my CV off do you think I could attend another assessment day within the 6 month period?
Sorry for the long comment! But Im so confused :(
    Many thanks
    Ashley
ps love your website :) :)

    • Kara

Hi Ashley. The official rule is to wait 6 months, however this is no longer followed. You can go to another recruitment event anytime provided you did not reach the final interview stage before (in which case you need to wait 6 months).

    Hi Kara,

I am in Adelaide, Australia and as per the Emirates website I see that there are no open days in Adelaide, only invitation only.

Do you still apply online as per normal to receive an invitation or will there be a open day held?

Yes, you must apply online to be considered. There is no Open Day, you can only participate if you have have an invitation from the airline.

Hi Kara, I see that this has been asked to you before. But I just want to clarify it more to better understand. I usually use eyeglasses to correct my vision as my eyes’ grade is 300. Though I also use contact lenses to correct it as spectacles are sometime too much of hassle. Is that acceptable? And also, I’m not a good swimmer and my height is just the average like 5’1 only. Are they strict with height measurement? I haven’t measured yet my extended arm reach, does it apply with heels or just barefoot? Do they train you for swimming lessons if you’re accepted or you have to be really trained for swimming in order for you to apply? thanks

    • Kara

Patricia, when you apply for the cabin crew position, you must understand and be able to satisfy the minimum requirements for the job. Read more here http://flightattendantcentral.com/becoming-a-flight-attendant-where-to-start/
An arm reach of 212cm on tip toes (without shoes) is a pass or fail stage.
You must also be able to swim with the aid of a floatation device. No swimming lessons are provided.
Spectacles for vision correction are not acceptable, you must wear contact lenses.

    Hi kara,

How long after failing the medicals can I apply again for qatar? And what are the chances of me getting rejected twice? :(

    • Kara

Chances to get rejected are high if whatever the reason of fail the medicals was not addressed. If you are healthy and able to pass the medical tests, you should be fine.
Normally you need to wait for 6 months before reapplying.

hi kara, hope ya doing ok, i wish ya could help me with some vital infos, have some questions to ask ya, hope ya find a time and patience to answers them all plz, first i went online last may 5th to emirates website and did an application to work as cabin crew, i wasn’t then aware that there is open days events or invitation assessment day, anyway i got their reply telling me to wait 6 weeks for a contact from them if not means am not shorlisted and i got no contact for that. now there is an open day in my country egypt at sep 28th, and till then still says unsuccessful application on their website, so at sep 28th will almost 4months and 3 weeks passed so,
am i allow to go to this open day or wait for exactlly 6months?
and how does they will know if i applied before and not shorlisted ?
and does applying online in general and got no response means they did assess me and i should wait for 6months ?
or i should attend assessment day and if i failed i only wait 6months ?
also, if i deactivated my application could i go to this open day and they won’t know i applied before ?
sorry for this many questions but am really confused and want to be sure about the right details
can i go as long as i didnt attend assessment process before or what
hope ya could help me with all this
    thanks for your time

    • Kara

      Hi Moh.gad,

You can go to the open day even if your 6 months didn’t pass yet. The official rule is to wait 6 months, however that seems to be overlooked recently.
When you apply online, your profile is considered. If you didn’t receive a response, you should consider yourself not shortlisted. meaning they did not see potential in your online application. That shouldn’t stop you from going to an Open Day, however you can not present the same photos and same CV and expect a different result. Read through these articles to learn how to prepare better

And also, if it saya the CV Drop Off day is only for submittion of documents, do I need to have my braces removed prior that day already? Are there cases that happened in which there had been an interview on the CV Drop Off day? Thank you so much.

    • Kara

It really depends on how many candidates show up. They may call you the next day or after one week or more. You want them to picture you wearing the uniform when you hand them the CV. With braces that is simply not possible. Remove them before if you can.

  21. Jo

Hello Kara, I am from the Philippines and I am planning to apply for Qatar Airways Open Day here in Manila this weekend. However, this is my first time and I have a lot of question in my mind. I hope you would not mind helping on some.

1.) I have braces, which I can have removed for the job since my teeth is already looking fine. Do I need to have it removed prior the Open Day? I am thinking they might see the braces as a downside.
2.) I have minor scar on the legs, is it okay to wear a skintone pantyhose stocking on the Open Day or they opt that our legs are bare?
3.) The moment I knew about this career opportunity, I immediately logged in to our Department of Foreign Affairs page to schedule an application for Passport as I do not have one yet. I chose the RUSH application which would take 10 working days. However, the closest available slot is on the 29th of September and the Open Day is on the 27th and 28th. Do you happen to know if they would still shortlist my CV if I pass my application form instead?

I sincerely hope you can help me with my queries. I want this job so much. Thank you very much. All the best!

    • Kara

      Hi Jo,

      1. You need to remove your braces before the interview. Cabin crew are not permitted to wear braces and you will be automatically disqualified.
      2. Yes, you can wear pantyhose, as long as it is skin colored.
      3. You can explain to the recruiter you are in the process of getting a new passport and the estimated date of getting it.

      All the best!

That is not advisable Saki. You want to show the best you could be. You are going for a formal encounter, dropping off your professional resume and photos in hope of getting a job, not dropping off your laundry.

Asanda, if the company you are applying for is Qatar Airways, you can go without and tell them you are in the process of getting a new passport and provide them with a copy as soon as you have it. You will however not be able to apply online for the vacancy as one of the requirements is a copy of your passport.

Hi Kara. I just want to ask this one question because I got confused. There is this cv drop off in the Philippines and its dated Sept 27 to 28. But there is also this deadline indicated. What is this deadline for? Is it the deadline for the online application or its a deadline for the drop off and we need to submit our cv before the deadline before the 26th. Please help me on this Kara. I dont want to miss my chance.

    • Kara

You have 2 options Lemonfil. One, you go to the advertised location on the specified dates with your CV and other documents. Then you hand over your CV. Or, you apply online before the deadline specified, and wait for your application to be shortlisted by the recruitment team. It is your choice which option you go for. Applying online is not a must.

Camila, if the event is Invitation Only assessment, you must receive an invitation for that specific event. Only this way you can participate.

hi i am omar and i have a question about fly emirates cabin crew interview, i am 21 and i have one year to finish college, i want to attend the openday in egypt cairo, but the problem that i have recruitment military after college does that affect me on the interview ? how can i secure my self from this if i passed in all emirates interviews can it be risk not travling after all that?
because actually i can not wait to finish recruitment and i want to attend open day asap

    • Kara

Omar, if the military recruitment is a compulsory requirement in your country, your participation in the open day will not alter this situation for you.
If however you are successful through the assessment and you are selected to become a cabin crew but you have other obligations to attend to, there is no guarantee the airline will keep the job for you until you are ready to join them.
I hope this helps to answer your questions.

Most of the times the assessment day is either organized the next day or in the same day if the number of candidates is not too great. This however is not a guarantee.

Hi Kara! Hope you are well. I’m writing to you because I went to an open day in April and I wasn’t successful however I’ve received an email from Emirates telling me that I was shortlisted and inviting me to the following OD which is going to take part next saturday. Should I attend to this OD although the six months period is not completed? I will be rejected for this reason?. Thank you!

    • Kara

Hi Agustina. Officially you must wait 6 months in between recruitment events. This rule seems to have changed and now you can participate in another event whenever you want provided you didn’t participate in a final interview, however this is not made official on the careers page of the airline. You have nothing to lose, so just go.

Dear Kara, I do have a question regarding an Open Day and Assessment Day (Invitation only) with Emirates. I have applied online and received an invitation to a Recruitment day (online listed as Open Day with all provided details about a venue) that will be held in a neighbor country (Latvia) on 30th August, however, I was expecting to receive an invitation to a Recruitment day (online listed Invitation only) in my hometown Vilnius (Lithuania) on 27th September. For me it seems to be strange why they didn’t take my location into consideration. Unfortunately, I am out of Europe till the mid of September, so I won’t be able to attend event on 30th August in Latvia. My question is – if there is a possibility to contact the HR and to ask to reschedule my invitation? If so, does anyone have any contact email?

    • Kara

Evelina, you can withdraw your application and reapply for the position. It is indeed a weird occurrence, they usually consider your current city, I am sure it must have been a error.
Everything must be done through the careers portal.

Hi kara, I have two questions for you. First I went to an open day with Emirates in New York City about two months ago and I wasn’t selected, but I just received two invitations for two recruitments day, one in NYC and the other one in Washington D.C. I’m not sure if I can assist to this recruitment days because it hasn’t been 6 months but In the open day they told us that you only have to wait six months if you had an interview one in one, although I’m not sure, maybe I miss understood and I don’t want to waste my time because it hasn’t been six months since I assist that open day. Second I was wondering what are your chances of being selected if you have really short hair like a pixie haircut, I was thinking about cutting my hair but the pictures I send we’re with long hair so again I’m not sure about it.
    Thanks in advance,
    Victoria

    Dear Kara,

Today I was invited for an assessment day in lisbon on sep. 20th.
After reading some comments and your information I understood that the medical examination is conducted after the final interview. Isn’t there a quick eye test on the assessment day? I’m asking since I have a very low vision (7/10 and 4/10) and I’m seriously believing that I’ll not be successfull due to this obvious requirement. Nevertheless, I would like to know if my “no” will be given on the first day or if I will have to wait (and be patient with my expectations!).

    Thanks in advance,
    M.

    • Kara

Your vision will not be tested during the assessment day and you should be fine if it is corrected and you can use contact lenses. Here are the official requirements that will be followed during the medical test:
      Your vision is acceptable if
-Distant visual acuity with or without correction is 6/9 or better in the better eye
-Near visual acuity with or without correction is at least N5 at 30-50cm and N14 at 100cm
It is unacceptable if you have
-spectacles for visual correction (only contact lenses are accepted)
      -visual field defects
      -functionally monocular vision

I hope this helps you :)

Hi i have some questions. im attending an assessment day in abu dabhi and i need help with all the forms that they send me. do i need to go to the doctor for the pre- employment medical declaration? in some pages they ask signatur from the physician, so i dont understand if i need to take it to a doctor and do any exam.
Second, for the service letter, its 2 from 2 diferent jobs right? So from my job here in dubai i probably can get one, but from my home country its very dificult. they are not a company, only a restaurant and they dont have company email or company stamps. what should i do in this case??
    Thank you!!

    • Kara

Hi Andrea. There is no need for any medical forms to be completed before you go. You will be asked to start these only after you are successful through the final interview.
About the service letters, you can bring what you have available and discuss this matter with the recruiter who interviews you. They might make a note on your file that you only have one letter available or they might want to contact your previous employer, it’s all up to them to decide which step to take.
      Good luck!

    Hi Kara,

I was wondering if I should be prepared to stay two days at that particular location where the assesment is going to be held? Or should I just prepared to stay one day for the assesment day?

I need to know this because I have to book a hotel and all before going there.

    Thank you!

It depends on the airline Annie. For Etihad and Qatar, most of the time the assessment is finished in the same day, while for Emirates you will need 2 days.

    Hello Kara,
I just would like to refine one point about CV Drop off day of Etihad: CV Drop off day will be in Tunisia 25th August, is it allowed to participate if I’m from another country and I didn’t applied online? (Just with my CV and photos)
    Thank you very much!

Yes Aliya. CV drop off is open for everybody, regardless of their nationality, without prior need to apply online.

    Hi Kara,
    A very goodmorning.
Well, I have this query regarding an email stating that I have been invited for an open day in India on this 23rd, but my doubt lies on the question that what exactly is an open day? Does that mean that I will have my interview also on the same day or only after this above mentioned Open day , I will get to go for the interviews and further selection procedures? And is the proper alignment of teeth is a concern during the selection process?
Looking forward for your expert comments.
    Have a good day.

    • Kara

Ramya, an open day is most of the times followed by the assessment being held on the same day. If the event is an open day, you would receive a set time and location and a list of documents to provide. Your participation in the open day does not guarantee you will be selected for the assessment. It only invited you to submit your documents.
Your teeth should be clean, cavity free and your smile pleasant. Perfect alignment is not a prerequisite.

Hi Kara. It’s been a while! I decided to take risks and go to another country for interviews with EK. Here’s a new question. If I apply online, and it goes unsuccessful, can I still show up on open day? Should I withdraw the application when I do?

    • Kara

Kim, if you apply online and you are not successful you can only reapply for the same position in 6 months time. Of course if you are willing to take the chance, you can go for the Open Day and see what the outcome is.

    Hi Kara

    RE cv and interview questions

I just read your cv tips and I don’t have a customer service frame of reference, the examples you give are for a waitress, and I’m trying to tailor my CV appropriately but I’m a junior draughtsperson, and I just started. I am not yet in-charge of dealing with clients and contractors. So I don’t know what to say really about customer-service experiences and such. As part of my job description i just listed my responsibilities, I really can’t make it sound different.

Secondy, I do have a lot of experiences to share about teamwork and such, if they ask me in an interview, but it is from university, not work. Is this still appropriate.

Thirdly, sorry, what can be a good reason for wanting to leave your job to work as a flight attendant instead?

    • Kara

Hi Mimi. Consodering your job, indeed there isn’t much you can include in terms of customer service, however the relationship you ave with your colleagues and how you present it can be viewed as customer related interaction. Include the technical description of your job, but also how you report your work, to whom and what are the resources you use to do so.
Your experience from school is absolutely fine. They will ask you to give them an example and you can choose which one that is. A good reason to leave your job is very personal. It can be passion, desire to expand your horizons, restart a career in customer service or simply considering it a better opportunity at this time in your life. Whichever one it is, it must be your own reason.

Hi, I am attending the Etihad Johannesburg Invitation Assessment on 27 July 2014 for a position of In-flight Chef.
I would like to know if anyone on the Cabin Crew forum can help me with a few questions I have regarding the process and requirements.
If you have been invited for an assessment, what are the chances of actually securing the position?
Some of my other questions include:
    – Is there a swimming test on the day and do I need to bring swimming trunks?

    – In the full length photo they ask for, should I wear a suit or a chef uniform? (Etihad don’t specify in the emailed form)

    – With regard to my service letters of recommendation- I have copies of them on letter headed paper, however Etihad has asked for: “Two work related service letters including the Contact Details of Referees (their names, position titles, telephone numbers and work emails). The service letters have to be issued by your current or previous employers and need to be printed on official letterhead and include a company stamp.”
My references are issued on letter headed paper, but they do not have a company stamp and it would be impossible to get them stamped now as I no longer live near to these businesses and one of the restaurants I have a recommendation from is now closed.
How would this affect my application?

    – I was previously retrenched (my position was made redundant), would this count against me?

    – I have a small scar above my right temple (barely noticeable) and a Titanium fixture in my lower leg from surgery for a broken tibia. Would this disqualify my application?

    – What are the criteria for de-selection points, what are factors which may disqualify you?

    – If you are not invited to the next day of assessment does this mean you are unsuccessful and de-selected?
I would greatly appreciate any help on these questions, as well as advice and tips on what to expect from the assessment day and any comments from anyone who has or is attending an Assessment day.
    Thank you.
    Mike.

    • Kara

      Hi Mike,

This is not a cabin crew forum, but a website with advice for the people who are planning to attend a cabin crew assessment for the airlines in the Middle East.
I am not an expert for the in-flight chef position, however I can tell you the assessment stages are similar as for the cabin crew, with the only difference being your industry knowledge which will be tested, as well as leadership skills which you must showcase (as the position is partly managerial).
      To answer your specific questions:
      – Is there a swimming test on the day and do I need to bring swimming trunks?
      >>>No. There will be a swimming day during your initial training.
      – In the full length photo they ask for, should I wear a suit or a chef uniform? (Etihad don’t specify in the emailed form)
      >>>Wear a full business attire: suit with tie.
      >>>Probably not. Take all these papers with you for the day. If they need more from you they will ask. You can then establish what is possible for you to provide and what is not.
      – I was previously retrenched (my position was made redundant), would this count against me?
      >>>No. These things happen. If you were let go due to poor performance, that is something that counts against you,
      – I have a small scar above my right temple (barely noticeable) and a Titanium fixture in my lower leg from surgery for a broken tibia. Would this disqualify my application?
      >>>It is up to an aviation doctor to establish if your surgery would affect your ability to perform your duties on board.
      – What are the criteria for de-selection points, what are factors which may disqualify you?
      >>>Not being able to show team work, cultural awareness, poor level of English, poor communication skills, lack of industry knowledge (for your position only)
      – If you are not invited to the next day of assessment does this mean you are unsuccessful and de-selected?
      >>>Etihad’s assessment is only 1 day. If you are eliminated at any stage of the assessment, you can reapply after 6 months.

Hi Kara! What if they rejected my online application? Am i not allowed to show up on open day anymore?

    • Kara

If they rejected your online application you can create a new application in 6 months. You can still show up for the open day, however there is a risk they might ask you about the status of your online application. Just withdraw whatever application you created and just go for the open day. If successful, you can create an online profile afterwards.

  58. Kim

It is possible they will. You can also just withdraw your existing application. There is no need to apply online to participate in an open day.

There was a cv drop off in Korea a few days ago and unfortunately I didn’t pass the quick 1 on 1 interview(asking two-three questions). However people who passed had their AD. So I assume what I had was OD?
I’m pretty aware that if one doesn’t pass AD, she/he will have to wait another 6 months to reapply. Does this apply to me as well? I’m thinking of going to another country instead.

    • Kara

The official rule is that you need to wait for 6 months between your participation in recruitment events regardless of the stage you reached. There seem to be however strong rumors that this rule is overlooked and unless you reached the final interview but were rejected, you can go again any time. This is however not confirmed or published by the airline. It is up to you o consider if this is a risk you are willing to take.

    Hello Kara,
Sorry to ask a question that I can see has been asked before, but I am just looking for some more clarification on the subject. Is it necessary to apply online for an Emirates Open Day in Dublin on the 12th of July? I know there is the option to do so, but I was under the impression that I could just turn up at the event with my CV, photos, etc. without having applied in advance. It is listed specifically as an open day and not a CV drop off. I’ve been reading many blog posts on the open days and application process and I think the different opinions and stories may be doing more bad than good! I’m wary of turning up and being rejected based on not having applied online. I would really love to work as cabin crew with Emirates and I have five years of experience in customer service so feel I could make a valuable addition to their team. Any light you could shed on the subject would be hugely appreciated. Thank you!

    • Kara

Jennifer, there is no need to apply online for an Open Day. Just go to the advertised location with your CV and photos. Candidates who apply online and the ones who don’t are being given the same chance during the open day. Good luck!

Hello Kara, I have sent an application to Emirates 5.5 weeks ago and the status is still “Application Received”. Does this mean that they didn’t choose me? In such a case can I still try my luck in one of the upcoming OPEN DAYS or shall I wait for 6 months? I wanted to address this question to the HR department straight away, but filed to find any contact info.

Thank you in advance for your answer

    Best wishes,

Oksana, you can participate in an Open Day without being shortlisted online. Application received means exactly what it says: your application was received and it is not yet in the queue for reviewing.

Hi Kara, I have a few question and you’re the only one who can help me. I just saw that Etihad will have two AD in Bucharest (invitation-only), in no more than a week (7th and 9th of July). If I apply online today (1st of July) do you think it is possible to receive an answer from them in time so I’ll be able to participate to the AD? Here’s the thing: I’m Romanian but don’t live there anymore, now I live in Italy and if, let’s say, they invite me to an AD (so help me God), I’m not sure I can buy a flight ticket in such a short time, you know they cost a fortune… Or they give you more time to organize yourself for the trip? I mean, on one hand I’d love to go to Bucharest and take the chance to see my familiy and friends too, but on the other hand I’m aware that the time is really short and I reaaly don’t know what to do, if it’s better to apply eitherway or not. Thank you very much for your time and aswer!

Hello Kara, I’m attending to Emirates open day this coming weekend. It is fantastic that I found your articles while I’m googling for more helpful tips! Your tips really soothe out my nerve and makes me feel more confident, which I hope I still do on Saturday.

Regarding to the Open day, just wondering if there are not TOO many participants, will all three steps be perform that day? And if the official website says: walk-in any time between 8:30 – 12:00, does that immediately means everyone only get to hand in CVs and thats it? I really do hope the assessments can be done on the same day so I won’t be carrying my anxiety too long!

    Regards,
    Anya

    • Kara

      Hi Anya,

If the event is a walk-in, then the only thing that will happen during the day will be a CV handover. Successful candidates will be contacted at a later date for the details of the assessment.

Relax and all will be ok :)

Hi Kara, recently attended the Qatar Assessment day in Johannesburg and successfully made it through to the final interview stage. It has been 3 weeks since hearing from Qatar Airways recruitment however my application status on the advanced candidate zone states “Interviewed, feedback pending”. My question is how long will feedback take and if successful upon the request and passing of the medical, approximately how long will the process take until date of joining?

    Thank you for your feedback.

    Kind regards.

    Marcellus Sarawan

Marcellus, congratulations for making it so far. It usually takes 6 weeks to receive an answer. After the completion of the medical forms, it is all up to the security clearance. Sometimes it takes couple of days, sometimes couple of weeks. It would be safe to say that you will receive a date of joining after 4-6 more weeks post successful email if all your documents are in order.

Thanks Kara for replying. Concerning the dress code, i have a grey dress and a black jacket and also a red jacket, white top and a black shirt to go with it which one do you think will b best to wear? And also is it a must i must wear pantyhose 2 take my photograph? Lastly you talked about using one’s name to create an email, my question now is i have no email with my name that i used in filling the online application, what do i do? Do i need to still create another using my name and adding it to my cv or i should forget about creating a new one since i have registered with it although i have not finished the application. Oh sorry to bother you do they disqualify a person that applies with more than one email? Thanks for your time

    • Kara

They should both be fine Folashade. I would recommend though that you skip the red jacket. Stick with more neutral tones. Yes, you must wear pantyhose. If you already created an application with your existing email, it is fine. I am just giving you tips about what looks good and what looks less professional. You will not be rejected based solely on how your email address looks like.

Helo Kara. I really appreciate your good work here may God bless you. Am from Nigeria and am still filling my online form but my question is how do i dress for my photograph? Can you pls send samples to me. And also what do they mean by skills and language ability? Lastly i dont have any experience do i still stand a chance to be shortlisted? Thanks

    • Kara

Hi Folashade, this is the acceptable dress code, both for the interview day and the photo.
      http://flightattendantcentral.com/how-to-dress-for-your-cabin-crew-assessment-day/
Skills and language abilities means how fluent are you in speaking different languages. You need to list the languages and your level of proficiency.
No experience is required to be considered for this job as you can see from the minimum requirements of the airline. The experience however is appreciated, so any volunteer work should be included as well.

Hello Kara, I have been shortlisted to participate in an assessment test by the Africa World Airlines, a local airline here in Accra, Ghana. Though am a bit nervous, I have gained some confidence after reading through the arrays of articles over here. i must confess they’ve been very helpful.
I am very positive am going to make it because I work very well in a team, i have excellent communication and customer relations skills, I am very good in Maths, amongst others.
now i want you to shower me with your blessings! lol :)

    • Kara

Agatha, there is no need to apply online for an open day. I can only assume that if your application is successful, they will invite you for the next recruitment drive in your city. They take 2-6 weeks to review applications, depending on the number of candidates applying for the specific location.

hey KARA; i live in algeria: i will send my CV to QATAR AIRWAYS / if they accept me and invite me for the assement day ; what’s the next steps?

    • Kara

Obviously Princess, the next step is to actually participate in the assessment day, pass through all the stages (reach test, introduction, English test, group exercise and final interview). After the final interview you will receive a successful email (or regret) and you will be informed what to do next before joining the airline.

Hello! I would like to ask the difference between the CV drop off and Open Day.

Because I attended an Open Day last month in KL. There were around 200 people who came. There was just a presentation and CV drop off. No height reach or group activities.

So was that an Open Day or a CV Drop Off? In the website, it clearly stated that it was an Open Day so I am confused.

According to some blogs and post that I read (THIS BLOG POST FOR EXAMPLE: http://jazzweibeloved.blogspot.com/2011/12/emirates-airline-interview.html) , some Open Days have height reach, exams (math and essay) as well as group activity, aside from the Assessment Day after the next day. Also, there was only one recruiter during the said Open Day unlike in other Open Days in other places. There were around 180-200 people who attended that day.

Can someone clear this up? I have to travel to another country for this, so I would appreciate if the Open Day that I am planning to attend next month would be an Open Day (with height reach, etc) or just a plain CV drop off (again, like what happened in Malaysia, where I will be attending again).

    Thanks!

    • Kara

Maria, it really depends on the location. Normally, the airline clearly states if the event is a CV drop off or Open Day, however they do say that even if it’s a CV drop off, they will contact the successful candidates during the course of the week. I know this doesn’t help your situation when you travel from another country.
Most of the times, Emirates organizes Open Days, Qatar Airways as well (if it’s just a CV drop off they will mention it), and Etihad only has Invitation Only Assessment Days with a few CV drop off events in locations where the assessment days are not filled by the online applications. I hope this helps.

    Hi Kara!

Thank you for providing all this helpful information! Today I went to Assessment Day of Emirates and unfortunately I didn´t pass the first round, which was the little one to one interview with one of the recruiters, and a group excercise. As many others I have been looking back thinking what might went wrong. The group exercise went fine, I was relaxed, I gave the others space to talk, maintained a friendly attitude and spoke on the right times.

Is it my age? I´m turning 29 in a few months, and noticed I was one of the oldest in the group. Was it my answer to the question of the recruiter: “What are you doing rightnow”, which I answered with: I´m currently a Marketeer at an software company in a foreign country, however I recently resigned and I´m looking for a new challenge in which I can work more directly with people. That is why Emirates might be the right place to be, as it gives me the change to continue in an environment with different cultures and gain more international experiences… After that she didn´t ask more questions…

    • Kara

      Hi Diane,

The way you answered the question was definitely not the best choice of words. “I’m currently a… but I recently resigned” followed by reasons why you chose to come to the interview with this specific airline does not answer the question “What are you doing right now?” It seems you are dancing around the subject. Try to work a little bit on this answer.
Your age should not be an issue.

There are very few open days organized by Etihad Jamila. There is only one in May in Mumbai India. You can go there is you are in the country. If not, your approach is to apply online. Your application will be reviewed. If shortlisted, you will be given 6 months to book an invitation only assessment day. There are few organized every month in various cities around Europe, North America and Middle East.

  92. Adeline

Hello Kara! Thank you for your help!
I’ve just arrived from Etihad assessment day. I didn’t pass even through the 1st tour! The English test was easy. I think the problem was in introduction (we had to introduct another person in several words and tell everybody smth unique abot him/her). Of course I was a bit nervous, I didn’ sleep well, I was always afraid to oversleep, It took 4.5 hours of flight to get to AUH and I spend so much money and efforts… I’ve been working 2.5 years as a flight attendant in our national aircompany and I thought they’d take into consideration that fact. I perfectly prepared all documents, I reached till 210 cm… Maybe cause I’m not the pretiest one. I don’t know. I thought I’d reach at least the final interiew… I’m so frustrated.

    • Kara

Adeline, you start by saying that you think the problem was the introduction (which you apparently didn’t handle very well due to the array of reasons you mention), then you end up saying that you doubt your looks in getting the job. You’ve got me a bit worried here.
Previous experience is always a great asset. Not because you worked in the plane before, but because interacting with others, working in a team and responding to customers should come easier to you than to somebody else you is not accustomed to this very specific work. But you still have to show this during the assessment. A paper from your previous company is not proof. Your behavior is.
I can definitely understand your frustration over time and money lost. If you are honest with yourself, you will look back at what happened, think what you could have done better, prepare more and try again with a different attitude. Making excuses and blaming your failure over lack of sleep, nervousness and looks will not be of greatest benefit.

  93. EMMAH

Morning Kara, I think the reason why i was not called for the AD was because my photos were not that appealing. The reason why i have come to such a conclusion is because i applied your “5 steps to create your perfect cabin crew C.V”. Definitely that was a plus.
On the other hand, my snapshots (both full length and passport) were a little below the line if you know what i mean.
Do you mind if i send them to you so that you can advise me further on that issue? and if you don’t, then kindly send me your personal email address so that i attach them. I do not want to take any chances in future opportunities.
    Thank you.

    • Kara

Melanie, this event was always an Open Day from the moment they published it. It really depends what you shortlist email says. If they invite you for an assessment, it means that you will be asked to wait while they collect the Open Day CVs and start the assessment directly. If it’s just a general invitation for an Open Day, then you will need to drop your CV just like any other candidate who didn’t apply online and wait for a call.

Hi Kara? First of all. thanks so much for your invaluable advice. I would like to ask, is it possible for me to apply for two different open days in two neighbouring countries? You see Qatar is having open days in my country (Uganda) on 19th and also in the neighbouring country (Kenya) on 20th. I have applied to both and gotten an invite for Kenya, still waiting for the Uganda one. I dd this so as to better improve my chances in case I don’t make it for the first one. My worry is will this negatively affect my chances of being successful? I was hoping if I attend the Uganda one and hopefully get through to the final interview I could do it in Kenya because I live and study there. Am however worried that in case I am not successful in the Uganda one then the assessors (who am sure will be the same as in Uganda) might view me negatively when I attend the Kenya one the very next day. What do you think? Am I over thinking this?

Will really appreciate an answer. Thanks again.

    • Kara

India, you don’t need an invite for an Open Day. You will not receive 2 invites for 2 open days. You can participate in both if you wish, however this is a personal choice. You are supposed to wait in between these open days so you can improve your CV and your skills and become a stronger candidate. I doubt you can do that in 1 day.
Think positive and hope your CV is strong enough to be chosen.

    Hi Kara,

I had my final interview for Emirates in January, unfortunately last Friday I got the unsuccessful email which is obviously very upsetting, I’m hoping you may be able to help me with a few things.
I thought my final interview went really well, I had prepared the interview questions from your website and the questions I got asked I had rehearsed and linked back to jobs I had done and my current role.
Just wanted to ask, is it true that they don’t send your application off to Dubai until they have received all your documents? If this is the case then I had to re order my education certificate which took 6 weeks to come! Therefore my application would have been 6 weeks behind everyone else’s?! (A girl from my group had already had her golden call in this time) could this have contributed to why I didn’t get the job?
Also many people said ‘If you get through to final interview you definitely have the job? But obviously I didn’t ? Is this true? I also have a small brown birthmark on my arm which was visible on my casual picture would they notice this?
It was my first time applying, should I apply again? In my email it stated to apply again in 6 months, I was aware it was normally 12 months you had to wait after final interview, why is it only 6 for me?

Thank you for your time, hope you can help.

    • Kara

      Hi Sienna,
First of all congratulations for making it so far. Some people do receive a regret after this experience, and not all of them are due to their performance during the interview. Sometimes is insufficient documents, unsuitable photos, certificates not matching the CV, etc. Obviously, I really can’t say what was the reason for your rejection.
Submitting a document late might be the cause, however they normally remind you to do it.
Your small birthmark shouldn’t be the issue.
You should definitely reapply if this is really your dream. The standard waiting time is 12 months, however if they gave you a shorter time, they see you as a valuable candidate.
      Go for it :)

    Hey Kara ,
I’ve submitted my CV online for Emirates Flight and I got a reply to attend and open day but I miss it as I saw the mail after the date of the open day but I’ve submitted it again and got another invitation for an open day next week I have two questions first is that invitation can be considered as a premiere acceptation and I’ll go for the Assessment day or I have to go through the regular steps of the open day ?! And also I wanted to ask you about the required height , I’m shorter than the required my arm reach 208 CM is that will be a big deal and may prevent me from being accepted but on another hand my other qualifications are quite appropriate for the job , Thanks in advance .

    • Kara

Hi Katrina. An invitation for an Open Day is standard and will not give you a “fast track” to go straight to the assessment. You will need to go through the same steps of CV submission and waiting to receive the call for the interview.
Your height however is the biggest concern. An arm reach test is an initial part of the day and without being successful at it you will not be going through to the next stages. Good news is that arm reach can improve with time and stretching exercises really help, so try to do that and hopefully you will be able to reach the mark. Good luck!

    Bonjour Kara,

Well, while reading the Assessment day I already feel nervous. You said that ” It is not enough to be fluent in English and very confident you will pass the English test if you are not able to show that you can work well in a team during the group exercise. ”, is that true ? So eyes closed I will succeed then ? I am one kind of candidates :) I mean that I understand English, I know and how to speak English but I’m not fluent, however I work well with a Team. I work actually in Call Center as a Team Leader for a French company and since I left school, I lost my fluency in English as I speak only French and Creole…….adding few words in English that’s all. On the other side I’m a certified candidate with an IATA Cabin Crew Course who is still believing in his dream. Do you think I can succeed ?

    Thanks and Best regards,

Hi Ronny. I think you misunderstood the order of importance. Fluency in English is one of the minimum requirements, however that is not enough. In order to show that you are able to work well in a team, you are exepcted to show communication skills and the ability to understand and communicate with others. And for that you need English. Does this make sense?
Your writing seems fluent enough, maybe focus on your speaking skills until there the time of your assessment comes.

    Dear Kara,
I was in an assessment day with Qatar Airways last February (2014) in Tunis, i failed in the group task just before the final interview. Now there’s another open day in my city (Tunis) at the end of April, do you think i can go and apply or should i wait till 6 months has passed since the last assessment day ? Knowing that after they announced who failed and who passed the group task the assessors didnt say anything about waithing 6 months, they just said good luck etc
And thank you so much, your book and your website are a real treasure for anybody who wants to become flight attendant.
    Best regards

Hi Houcem, Qatar Airways doesn’t give a waiting period in between assessments, so you can go back anytime :) Good luck, I hope this is your time to shine.

    hello dear Kara!

First of all I want to sincerely thank you (and i think i am talking in the name of everybody reading ur site) sincerly thank u from the bottom of my heart for the amazing job ur doing for beeing so kind and help with advises and informations people who rlly r passionate abt becoming a cabin crew U’R THE BEST ♥

Now, if i may , i really need ur advise/answer/opinion in smth……..i am RLLY RLLY passionate abt becoming a cabin crew……..in 2010 i got to be one of the only 10 candidates who passed all the stages and got to the Final interview with Emirates, but didnt passed the final interview, Anyway I also went to open days with Qatar and Etihad and i was ALWAYS ALWAYS passin at least the first two stages so all these show that i have what it takes to be a cabin crew………SO then please help me…i beg u ..help me to understand what can be wrong with me now? for example this month -March 2014 all the three companies (emirates, qatar, etihad) had open day/assesment day here where I live so I decided to give it a shot for al three of them so I applied online for the three of them. I got the invitations to attend the open day for emirates and qatar and i also was shortlisted for the assesment day for etihad………BUT after this nothing at all, for Emirates and Qatar I didnt even passed the first stage (the one where they call u to invite the second day to the assesment) a stage that i always used to pass it :( and also for etihad i didnt moved to the next stage…..with none of the three..so kara this really makes me think is smth wrong with me but i dnt know what, please PLEASE help me understand what is it and they dont want me anymore :( …is it my age (26 going on 27)?? the only question i got asked at the part where it was my turn to leave my CV was “what r u doing right now” or ” where do u work now”? and I answered “I am not working right now” bcz this is the truth …..is my answer wrong? should i have said I work or should I have said something else….what though?……please help me to figure out what could go wrong with me, what r the general things that the recruiters observe/want at that phase where u pass and leave ur CV??….i dnt have tatoos, i dnt have piercings, nothing…….I have a beauty spot on my right cheek (something like the one Eva Mendez has, jst to give u an example) but that didnt seemed to be a problem before some years when they were selecting me why would it be now??

Please help me I am rlly so confused and lost…..not even to talk about my self esteem and my mood right now I’m so soo sad and down thinking that smth is wrong with me and i dnt know what, i dnt know if is smth i can improve or is smth i cant improve so that means i have to forget about being a cabin crew EVER :(

    • Kara

Nadine, the participation in a cabin crew recruitment event is an emotional roller coaster!
First of all, do not worry about your age being the cause of the rejection. It is not.
Your answer to the question ‘What are you doing right now’ might however be improved. Whenever you are faced with a question that you must answer negatively, you need to try to turn it into something positive. Something like ‘The current job market here in … is very tough, so I am currently focusing on volunteer work for ABC Organization, as well as some courses at XYZ Institute to improve my skills and knowledge. I am also starting Japanese classes.’ This answer doesn’t put you in the light of an ‘unemployed and content with it’ person, but more of a ambitious individual who is finding her way no matter what.
It is not who you are and what you do, it is how the recruiter perceives you and more importantly how you are able to paint yourself in the most positive light and show that you will be an invaluable addition to their team.
      I hope you won’t give up :)

Hi Kara, thanks for the good work, keep it up. In applying with Etihad, there was a part they asked for ‘notice period’ please could you shed some light on what that means?

    • Kara

Chinedu, that refers to how long of a notice you must give your current employer when resigning. Most companies require 30 days notice.

So If I went to Dubai, is there any Open Days for Dubai Airlines there? Can you tell me, please? So, I will go and submit my CV and photos while I’m in Dubai this month or the next month.

Sam, it really depends when will they come next to your country. I personally haven’t heard of call backs at a later time, but if the recruiter said they will contact you, they probably will.

  122. Marta

Hi Kara! Thank you so much for your great website, I found the most helpful advice on here :) your kindness and optimism in answering questions are encouraging to all of us!

Being flight attendant is a dream of mine as well. There were a number of open days held in my country last year, but at that time I was living abroad. Now being back home I’m getting anxious to pursue this job opportunity with Emirates, but currently there are no open days announced. I’m considering to apply online ( although I think better impressions are made in person), and wait to see what happens. I just signed in to their web page, and there are 9 steps of applying process, first ones being: resume upload, personal information, work experience, education…

So my question is of a technical nature: aren’t personal info, work experience and education all part of the resume? What do I write in the resume document then?

    Thank you :)

    • Kara

Hi Marta. Here is an article to help you build a great CV
      http://flightattendantcentral.com/5-simple-steps-to-create-your-perfect-cabin-crew-cv/
The resume upload will be used to populate some of the areas of the application such as personal info, experience, education, etc. Once that is done, you can just add the missing info. It is just something that makes the process easier.
If you don’t want to do it, then just skip this step and fill in the application manually.

    Hi Kara,

Hope my mail meets you well.
Qatar airways in January, advertised an AD in Lagos, Nigeria for 28th February; Which I quickly applied for. Now, the vacancy has been taken down from their website. But when I check my profile in the applicant center I see my application status is “under review”. I’m a little bit confused now, if they changed their mind about recruiting in Lagos, or if not, I’m getting so anxious about the wait and it’s been close to a month since my application. I’m wondering what’s up? Or if I should just take my mind off it. Please advice.
    Thanks a lot.
    Much love.

    • Kara

Chinedu there are a lot of disappointed people hoping that this recruitment event will be taking place. Unfortunately there is no news of what will happen next. It may be that the airline holds onto the existing applications, shortlists the successful candidates and informs them of the time and location of the assessment, or a new event will be advertised and you need to reapply for it. Just keep an eye on your email and online application. I hope you will get some news soon.

    Hi Kara,

If I was not successful for the final interview with Emirates can I still attend an assessment day with Etihad under the 6 month time period?

    • Kara

Yes Julie, Emirates and Etihad are two different airlines and they do not share the candidates’ information. You can go ahead.

  126. Andra

Hello, Kara! First of all, I would like to thank you for what you are doing and helping all of us! I am proud to say I received an invite for a Recruitment Assesment Day in a few days. My dilemma is that I was called at a certain hour (16:00) and specified to “kindly be available at the venue only at the specified time and date given to you”, but as I was readind some articles about the Assesment Day itself, I can see it begins at 09:00 sharp. So I am little confused about the time, should I arrive at 09:00 or only at the specified time given? Thank you and good luck to all!

    • Kara

Hi Andra and congratulations on being short listed. The 9:00AM time is given usually for the Open Day candidates. It gives time for the recruiters to go through the CVs and invite the selected candidates for an Assessment Day. As you are already selected for the Assessment, you will skip this stage. Just have a printed copy of the email and go at the required timing. This way you show that you are able to follow instructions :) Good luck!

    Hi Kara,

    Thank you for your response.

The reason I asked about the open day is because I’m very worried as I have a holiday that has been booked for months which is 2 weeks after the open day and i’m very worried that if i’m successful on the open day the assessment day will fall on when i’m on holiday. Would they allow me to go to a different assessment day somewhere else? or would they just turn my application down?

    Thanks

    Sienna

    • Kara

Sienna, you should be fine with the 2 weeks gap to your vacation. You can discuss all this with the recruiters after you pass through all the stages. I am sure they will try to accommodate your schedule. An interview is a two way street. As much as you need a job, the airline needs great candidates and future crew.

Kay, this is a quote from Qatar Airways website:
      “Dress Code:
For Ladies -Business Suit, knee length skirt (with skin colour stockings or no stockings) and short sleeved blouse. Hair neatly tied back with appropriate make up.

For Gentlemen – Business suit with shirt and tie, cleanly shaven and neatly groomed.

Hi kara..am a black south african young lady.well groomed and fluent in English. I would like to believe I meet the requirements. I have a few questions id like to ask. Am a student nurse who has recently graduated . does nursing count as costumer services…I would also like to know if qatar airways recrecruites or perhaps have black cabin crew from south Africa reason why am asking is that I haven’t seen a single black crew in any of their pictures on the websites or at any airport.the reason why am asking is they recruiting in 2 weeks time in south africa and would love to apply.but need to know if my chances will be as good as anybody who apllies.

    • Kara

Katleho, nursing is an excellent background when applying for a cabin crew position. Qatar Airways hires cabin crew from many countries and there is no preference for a certain race, religion or nationality. Everybody has a fair chance to interview. If you have potential and you are able to show that you and your skills will be a great addition to their team, you will be hired. Good luck!

they called me for assesment day , and they asked me to send :
Letter confirming your cabin crew experience
medical reports ( i dont understand do i have to do all the medical check or just the basic check , or to send the old ones i had from my ex airline ???? )
    Photo’s

can someone explain to me about this documents please ???

    • Kara

Gizi, you can of course reply to their email and ask for clarifications. A full medical is usually required only after you received a positive answer from your interview. At this point you can send a copy of your Cabin Crew Medical Certificate and if this is not what they need, they will tell you to provide more documents. Asking them is the easiest and surest way.

I would like to know about Qatar airways cv submission day. Is it the same as the open day?? I have applied already for the cv submission day. Hi Astu,

For the CV Submission Day, you are just invited to go ahead and drop off your CV and photos. If your CV is shortlisted, you will be invited for the assessment. The Assessment Day however may be organized the next day, or the next week or after 2 months. You will only be informed of this when you get to the location. This is the downside of the CV Submission Day.

Hi! I just attended to an open day in Lisbon! It’s always lots of people there.. I don’t know if that’s the problem or not but I didn’t received a call after dropping off my cv. I have good image, speak good English and have experience at the area. In general I should be a suitable candidate! Im working as FA for 4 years. Do you think this might be the problem?? They don’t want people with experience? Should I wait 6 months to reapply? I read somewhere else we don’t need to wait when we don’t go through the cv drop off phase.
    Thanks

    • Kara

      Hi Sofia,

Sorry you didn’t make it this time. The rule is to wait 6 months regardless which phase you reached. I can only assume that the level of experience and education was really high during the day and they just chose the best of the best. Don’t lose hope and look into other airlines as well. Emirates has a very competitive selection process.

    Hi Kara
thanks a lot for your support but I’m not giving up cause becoming flight attendant has been a long term career aspiration. Although I’m a little disapointed, life has teached me that one must make benefit even from the negative experiences cause is from these ones, one find the strengh to go on and make things better next time. I will try with Etihad too but with Qatar unfortunately I cannot apply cause I’m married and this is one of their basic requirements.
As you said maybe was not my time but I hope it wil arrive soon.
A have a couple of questions:
    – Now do I have to wait for 6 months to attend another OD?
    – Can I still apply online and make a request for an AD or do I have to wait anyway 6 months before applying on Emirates website?
    Thanks a lot in advance

    • Kara

      What a great attitude Eda!
To reapply for Emirates, you must wait 6 months to create an online application (you can create an application to save you time as the system will save it for you for 3 months, however you must select Step 8 Submit Application only after the 6 months have passed.
You will also need to wait 6 months to participate in another Open Day.

  143. Eda

    Hi Kara
i just went Yesterday attending my OD with Emirates, it was only a CV drop off and the recruiter explained she would have called till 7 pm the ones who were selected and that the AD and the FI would have followed the days after the OD. It was the longest afternoon of my life but I didn’t receive the call…
Now there are some things I noticed regarding how the first part of the day went till the CV drop off and I can’t help asking myself what kind of mistake should I have ever made by not passing even the first selection.
When I arrived at the hotel I noticed all the things you have mentioned in all these articles….people who presented themselves in casual clothes, some girls in mini skirts others even as they were going doing shopping etc…. I noticed that very few people had a clear and good constructed CV, most of them presented a photo not suiting at all at the professional one you adviced us to shoot and others didn’t have photos at all and the recruiter said it was ok they didn’t have to worry about it, it was enough to present the CV.
So to summarize, having experience at customer service, presenting my self in a professional way, presenting a good constructed and clear CV and by observing how was the general presentation of most of the applicants, I was really confident I would have passed at least the CV selection.
Now I’m really but really confused of what kind of applicants they are looking for?!!!!!!!!!!!! I wanna keep trying cause I have the possibility but I’m just wondering my self what can I do better next times in order that my Whole presentation could stick with the figure they are looking for?

    • Kara

Eda, I am really sorry to hear about your experience. Emirates is a highly competitive and I can only assume that there were many candidates with extensive experience, relevant customer service skills and language skills. You presented yourself to the highest standard and that is amazing. You researched, prepared and improved yourself for success. This was not your time (or maybe not your airline), however I hope you will not allow this to affect you too much. Try to look for other airlines as well, such as Etihad or Qatar Airways. What can you do better next time? Don’t allow negativity to come into your mind. Be confident of who you are and what you have to offer and you will reach your dream.

Hi Willem. One of the pre-requisites for the cabin crew position is a high school diploma. If you only have a certificate, that would not be sufficient. Get in touch with your school and see what options you have to take the exam now. It is worth having the diploma, not only for the cabin crew opportunities, but for any future plans you might have.

Monica I am sorry I haven’t answered right away and then I forgot.

I think passed Final Interview, I haven’t received the phone call because they keep asking me to make new pictures and it is a third time when something wrong with my pictures. I guess I am the last one from my group who haven’t received the answer. And I am hesitating to submit my last pictures. I am afraid I will not be able to keep every Sabbath if I will pass final interview.

  146. Eda

Hi Kara it’s me again. I just wanted to correct myself cause I didn’t explained well what I wanted to ask. At the end of the month I’m going to participate in an OD of Emirates and my question was:
If the recruiter of Emirates (of course if i succed to go to FI) ever will ask me if I have applied before for any airline in Middle East, should I tell them the truth that I did it once for Qatar and the reason why I was rejected?

    • Kara

HI Eda, this direct question almost never comes up, but as you can see in the 25 Questions and Answers, there is always a diplomatic answer: ‘I am looking into an airline where my skills will develop and where I can contribute with Skill 1, Skill 2 and Skill 3. Your airline seems like such a place for me.’ It is an avoidance answer, but you can choose which way to go. There is no cross-airline candidates attendance exchange, so you can be honest, or if you feel more comfortable about it, don’t talk about your previous experiences.

Ok thanks a lot for beeing so gentle. Qatar has changed a lot his way of recruitment. When I participated in 2007 in Athens the recruitment was so basic, just english test some Group conversations and final interwiew….of course I can understand that the standard of quality has changed since they won the award as 5 star airline.
I passed all the stages but unfortunately I was rejected cause at that time I was going through a burocratical process for my documents in Greece. (I was a foreigner living in Greece at that time)
Ragarding to this question I wanted to ask you, if they ever will ask me if I have applied before for any airline in Middle East, should I tell them the truth that I did it once for Qatar and the reason why I was rejected?
    Thanks

    @Emma
if it’s permitted o me (and of course if the rules in Karas blog allow it) t asking if you are from Italy? I’m going to an OD for Emirates too at the end of november in Italy and wanted to know if there is any math test to do? I ask cause Kara has mentioned that sometimes it’s held a math test too. If so can u please collect in few words what kind of exercises or questions consists?
    Thanks in advance

Hi Eda. Emirates does not have a Math test in their standard assessment. The Math test ( a very basic one) was part of the Qatar Airways interview.

    Hi Kara,

I wonder if you can help answer a question, I have been invited to a preliminary AD for emirates in November. In the email it states that I only have to take with me the email & nothing else. Reading several forums there doesn’t seem to be much difference, it includes 2 group exercises but no English test. What I would like to know is that if I am successful at this point, do I then have to go through a further 2 stages, the AD & FI?

    Thanks for your help

    • Kara

Hi Emma, it really depends who is organizing the preliminary selections. If it is an Emirates representative, you will only have to go through the Final Interview. If it is just the recruitment agency, you will have to go through the entire Assessment Day process with Emirates.

well..I am from hong kong and they do not have any locations that is really nearby me :(
so…..what should i do for that???
can u pls tell me some advice if there’s aint no locations that is really close to my hometown?should i tell them about my situation?
    Pls help Kara

Hi Cyrus, congrats for the invitation. You have 2 options here:
1 – plan your visit to Abu Dhabi where you have 3 assessments every month.
2 – wait for them to come nearer to your country, however that might be a long shot. Last time they went to Asia, they recruited in mainland China.
Either way, you will probably need to travel.

    Hi Kara,

I have a news. I got selected. I decided to take a chance and to come for the assessment day. From 70 girls who were invited for the assessment day fourteen were selected for the final interview and I was one of them. I am very surprised, very! There were so beautiful and fluent girls and I was quite sure they will be chosen but I guess they have different criteria’s. I still don’t understand how they chose me. I wasn’t very active during the last group test because those girls were too active that I couldn’t even say anything but I decided to myself I will be time keeper. And time came when I could say something too. :)
Thank you Kara for your articles. They helped me a lot to understand all process and proper behavior. I understood that to be too active is not helpful.
That day was a quite experience for me.
Now I will prepare for the final interview but I still didn’t decide what to do with saturday. I asked them on the introduction part about fixed days off due to religion believes but they told us we have to be very flexible, as you said before.
But I want to tell them on the final interview that usually i go to the church in saturdays and I want to see what they can offer to me.
Do you have any idea what they might to offer?

    Thank you Kara.

    • Kara

Very well done Kate! That is amazing news. You’ve done great. As for your fixed days off, I really doubt you will receive an offer to satisfy your expectations. Flexibility is one of the biggest requirements for this job.
Spirituality is very personal, and when it is that important to you, you will consider all the facts before you accept or reject this job. You are being given an amazing opportunity and no matter what you choose to do, you must be 100% sure that it is the right thing.
From my experience, my colleagues who were religious got to a compromise where they observed their 7th day or holidays whenever they could if they had a day off, otherwise they would make up for it in another day by going to church/temple/mosque, pray, fast and be kind to others. But only you know how much or how little you can stretch your boundaries.

Thank you Kara for your respond.

They did changed my assessment day and I am very happy about it.
I am looking forward for this day, I actually already thought I will not be able to participate. But they called me and changed my day.
I do have questions about Saturdays off. Is it possible that they will write down about Saturdays in the contract? And when should I mentioned about this or ask them? Should I wait till when I will be invited to the Final Interview? When is the appropriate time?

    Thank you Kara.

    Sincerely Kate

    • Kara

Glad to hear you managed to change the date Kate. It will not be possible to write about your days off request in your contract. It is a standard contract and it will not be modified to fit personal requests. When you apply for this job you should understand that it implies great flexibility with your time and working hours and days.
As for asking about it, you should think about your priorities. If your practice is very important for you and you are unwilling to adjust it, then you should establish from the beginning if this job is a fit for you and you are a fit for the airline. In this case, you should ask them as soon as you are given an opportunity.
If you already made up your mind that you want to give it a chance, then keep this for the final interview. This way the assessors will see your full potential and may be willing to offer you some options.
Either way, think very well in advance what compromises are you prepared to make and ensure they can be met by your future employer.

    HI Kara,

I have some questions. I live in Ukraine. And I was invited to the Assessment day in 24 of august.
I saw on your website, they are recruiting in 24 and 25 of august. What do you think is it possible to ask them to come in 25 of august? Due to my religion beliefs.

And I have a question about cabin crew schedule. Is it possible to get Saturday off? I keep Shabbat and I would like to know should I still pursue this position or give up? Do I have any chance to get Saturdays off?

    Thank you.

    • Kara

      Hi Kate,

You can of course get in touch with the recruitment agency and ask for a different date if there is one available.
As for guaranteed days off, that will not be possible when working as cabin crew. You may of course request to have Saturdays off and sometimes your request will be granted, however it will never be every single Saturday.

      Good luck with your assessment,

      -Kara

Hi, Kara! Thanks so much for your reply! :)

I now have some doubts as to the work related letters required by Etihad:

    1) Are they the same as reference letters? What do they include?
If they just include the dates I worked in a certain company or place, I already have them.

    2) In my case they will be in Spanish, as the employers that sign them do not speak English: is that a problem? Shall I ask my employers if it’s possible for me to write them in English and they sign them?

    3) I also worked in some schools, but conventionally the schools in Argentina do not deliver these these service letters with the letterhead of the schools; however, they are sealed and signed by the authorities in the school, whose position title is also mentioned, as well as the telephone number of the school, but no email addresses are included in general. Could this be a problem? Should I ask these schools to make a different service letter?

Thanks a lot for your kind attention, Kara!
¡Que tengas un lindo día! :)

Alejandra, see below my answers :)

      1) Are they the same as reference letters? What do they include?
If they just include the dates I worked in a certain company or place, I already have them.
      >>>They include your name, the dates and position held within the company, including the company’s location (city and country).

      2) In my case they will be in Spanish, as the employers that sign them do not speak English: is that a problem? Shall I ask my employers if it’s possible for me to write them in English and they sign them?
      >>>>Better have them in English. The airline will need to be able to read them.

      >>> These are fine.

    Hi again, Kara!!!
I am now writing to tell you that I have been invited by Etihad for an Assessment Day! :D I am so happy!!!! I feel really proud and honoured to have been taken into consideration! :D

I am so nervous and excited that some questions have come into my mind, and I will be really grateful if you could tell me:

    1) Do you happen to know if applicants have 6 or 12 months to book a slot? I read in the invitation that I have 6 months since that invitation to book a slot. But I also read in the reminder for booking I received (since I haven’t booked any slot yet) that if I don’t book a slot, my application will be in the database for 12 months enabling me to book a slot once one becomes available for me: so I have 12 months, not 6, to book a slot since the invitation, right?

    2) If, for any reason, I haven’t been able to book a slot near my location within that time, is it possible for me to reapply soon? After how much time?

    3) On a different matter, about dental questions, I do not have any tooth cavities but I do have some fillings in some of my molars and they are not white: can that be a problem if they are not visible when I speak or smile? Would you suggest I should change them for a more aesthetic option?
I also have a bit of a retracted gingiva in one of my lower teeth on the inside (it’s not visible at all and it’s only one, and it’s under control as I have an oral irrigator that prevents infection or bleeding): is that a problem? My dentist says it is not, and when I hinted that I wanted to have the operation done to cover that retracted part, he told me that it isn’t worth it in my case as it is not even visible… They would take a little piece of my palate to do that, which will later heal… Do you think I should go for the operation even if my dentist says it’s not necessary?

Thanks a million for all your help, Kara! Have a very nice week! :)
    Abrazos,
    Alejandra

      Hi Alejandra,

Rules for Etihad have been recently changed. You have 6 months to book your interview, after which you need to re-apply and your application will be reconsidered. Previous rule was 12 months.
As for your teeth, as long as your dental health is good, you have no cavities and your smile is pleasant, don’t worry about it. The only reason why they ask for a dental x-ray is for insurance purposes. As you will be offered a dental insurance as well, they want to rule out any medical conditions you had prior to joining the airline, so they will not be covered. Makes sense?

I hope they come near you soon.

      ¡Qué tengas un buen día!

      -Kara

    Hi, Kara!!!!!!!! :)
    How are you?
Remember my message where I was telling you that I was really surprised and sad because at home I had measured myself and I had even surpassed the required hight (I remeasured myself and I confirmed it), and in the Open Day I couldn’t reach the mark? Well, I was one of the few selected candidates for the Assessment Day anyways!!!!!! :) There was a second list and my name was there :) I was so happy! :D
I went to the Assessment Day and, as you had told us, it was a long one, but I really enjoyed it. Of course I was very nervous, under a lot of stress and pressure, which made me very tired by the end of the day, but it was wonderful. I was not, unfortunately, successful in the last but one stage – the group discussion and role play – but I am really thankful for having been given this chance and really happy and proud of myself for having reached so far :) The recruiters were so nice and told us that they hoped to see us again in 6 months and that we should reapply because the fact that we had reached to that stage means we have a lot of potential: these words have motivated me even more!
Now I know I will keep on trying till I make my dream come true! I am also certain it is my destiny and I am sure I will succeed. As the saying goes, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try and try again” :)

During the first round of the Assessment, we were remeasured and this time, unlike the previous one, I was fortunately able to touch the mark with my middle finger; one of the recruiters was in doubt so she asked her colleague, who also checked my height, and they concluded it was fine :) I was so relieved! :D
So that part was OK, and the first group discussion was also fine, and my English test too (though I was a bit afraid, since my essay was concluded but I had the ‘brilliant’ idea of adding an extra sentence by transforming the final stop into a comma, and when I was in the middle of it, the recruiter said ‘pens down’ and I left it incomplete, as I didn’t want to disobey, and I thought that maybe the incomplete sentence was going to be seen as poor time management on my part, and I was blaming myself for that, as I had finished my essay and just because of one incomplete sentence… but in the end I passed it :) )
However, I was not successful in the final group exercise where we had to reach a conclusion and then have a role play with a recruiter. I am a bit unsure as to what could have been my mistake, so I will try to be as precise as possible so that it is easier to pinpoint my weakness:
During the group discussion, I was the first one to volunteer to read the task when the recruiter asked for someone to do it. I read it loud and clear, looking at everyone in the eyes when possible, for everyone to understand. However, as I was so caught up in reading, I didn’t fully understand the task, so then I started thinking that maybe I shouldn’t have read it so as to be able to pay more attention to the task. Anyway, the recruiter later asked for someone to explain what we had to do (fortunately) and it was clearer to me: we had 8 passengers for a cruise and only two of them could get in and the others had to be left out; we had to express why we kept those two and rejected the others and what we were going to say to those.
As I was so nervous and I didn’t want to make any mistakes, I think I just kind of agreed with ideas and enlarged them upon a bit, but I never gave a new idea: I just tried to sound encauraging by agreeing and enlarging a little bit upon others’ ideas…
But on the good side, I also called the other applicants by their names, asked another applicant for her opinion as she was not talking so much, and I also included into the conversation another girl who was not being able to get a word in…
Then came the role play: one of the recruiters was one of the rejected passengers and I had to explain to her why she was not going to be able to go on that cruise. I was the first one, so I didn’t have so much time to collect myself and breathe in deeply. I began with “Good morning” and then, when she spoke, I was not sure how to continue as I was so nervous… I then made a pause (I couldn’t do otherwise as I really needed to breathe, and the recruiter’s expression was a sympathetic one which expressed, in my opinion, ‘don’t worry, continue…’, really reassuring) and then I started saying something like “I’m so sorry to tell you, sir, that the ship is overbooked… but we have other options. I’m sure you will accept another ticket for next season…”. Though I got very nervous at the beginning, I managed to continue.
I thought that maybe that was the reason why I wasn’t successful? And also maybe because I didn’t provide any new ideas during the discussion? But then I think that maybe those can’t be the reasons, as there was another applicant who also made a long pause (a lot longer than mine, as it also showed she was very nervous too) and she also had some trouble explaining the reasons to the customer, as she made some language mistakes that interfered with communication and the recruiter couldn’t understand some parts of her discourse, but she was successful through to the next stage anyway, and during the discussion she was one of the applicants I had to get involved as she didn’t speak so much: so I keep on thinking that there must be another reason why I failed, which I would love to know so that I can work on it during these 6 months till I reapply. There was another applicant who said “It was a problem of the company”, which I thought could be frowned upon, as we are supposed to be the visible face of the company and it wouldn’t look good to say such a thing for loyalty reasons, but she was successful anyway… I thought that maybe they would not focus so much on the handling of the overbooking problem as we are not supposed to know at this stage exactly how to deal with this kind of situations, since we learn about it during the training… but maybe we should anyway have some kind of previous knowledge about these things? What could have I done wrongly?
The other girl who volunteered to keep track of time was also not successful, and I thought she had managed better than other applicants who were successful, as she didn’t show she was nervous and kept on smiling…
I suppose it was meant to be… what we call “destiny”, and I am really happy for having reached so far, and am really happy for the successful candidates, too! :D I would also like, though, to have an idea of what I may have failed in so that I can improve myself and maybe even know what the successful candidates did well so that I can learn from them :)

Sorry for the extension of my message, Kara! But I just wanted to be as precise as possible so that you can have a clear picture and complete information to be able to think together with me about what I can improve :)

Thanks so much, Kara! Thank you for everything! You have helped me in ways that you can’t even imagine! :D
    Looking forward to your feedback!
    Abrazos!

      ¡Hola Alejandra,

Thanks for such a detailed description of your experience. I absolutely love your attitude. I am sure that next time you go for a recruitment event you will be successful.
Very positive points regarding your choice of language, volunteering for the task and your awareness throughout the entire process. But something happened? Perhaps you though you did enough or maybe you didn’t want to be overwhelming. The key word for the group exercise is CONTRIBUTE. Any small idea counts. After reading the task, you should have let the other candidates discuss some ideas and then expand either on what somebody else was saying, or bring in a new idea.
As for the role play, this is a pretty big mistake
“I’m so sorry to tell you, sir, that the ship is overbooked… but we have other options. I’m sure you will accept another ticket for next season…”
You started with the bad news and followed with expressing certainty over what the customer should do. Think how would you feel if you went for a concert and at the gate somebody would tell you ‘You can’t get in, but I am sure you will accept another ticket for next year’.
      You can say something like
‘Good morning Mr. X, I am afraid that our cruise is overbooked. May we discuss couple of options that we have for you?’ At this point the customer might get angry and need to vent out, but after he is done, together you will find a solution that is acceptable not only for you and for your company, but also (and especially) acceptable for the customer. Does this make sense to you?

Whenever you deal with role play customer service scenarios think how would you like to be treated if this happened to you. How would you like to be approached? How would you like the issue to be handled? What would you find acceptable?

I hope this helps you :)

Thank you, Kara, for your kind words! I will do as you say: I will keep on stretching and I’ll keep on trying. Maybe it’s not the right moment for this to happen to me yet, but some day it will be… If this dream has got into my heart, I suppose it’s because it’s in my destiny and it’s meant to happen to me. I’ll do anything in my power to make it come true, as I feel it’s my responsibility as a human being to take charge of my life and try to fulfill my dreams and objectives, and if it doesn’t come true in the end, I can at least say I tried and learnt a lot of things in the process which, hadn’t I made the attempt, I wouldn’t have been able to even imagine…
A very big hug from Argentina,

    Hi, Kara! Hi, everyone!
I just wanted to take this off my chest: I am writing to tell you about my experience yesterday in the Open Day Emirates Airline event in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where I am from.
It was in a hotel, and you could walk any time from 11 am to 5 pm. I arrived with my younger sister, who also deams of flying, at approximately 10.40. Tons and tons of people kept arriving for the big opportunity… We were lucky we were among the first ones and so we were home by 3 pm, but I suppose that the last people must have been interviewed very late at night, judging by the number of candidates there were.
Anyway, I had done my homework: I had my pictures ready and my CV and all the papers and things they had asked for even a week before the interview; I had done research on the company, on its routes; I had read millions of webpages about Emirates, the interview process, I had imagined all the possible answers I could give for the millions of possible questions they could ask, I had rehearsed them… and I had even done stretching exercises for two weeks to be able to reach the 212 cms they ask for. And this is the most important thing: I followed the instructions that the recruitment company here in Argentina had posted on its page, step by step: I took a tape measure, marked the 212 cms on the wall, and checked that I could reach them on tiptoes and my arm stretched out… and I could! I had to make some effort, but I was able to do it. Anyway, I kep on doing my stretching exercises.
When the moment came to be measured, I had to reach to the top of a poster stuck on the wall… It seemed really easy and when I had a look at it, I thought: “This is easy! I’ll be able to do it with no difficulty!” But it wasn’t like that in the end: I was shocked when I couldn’t touch the top! Not only had I measured myself at home, following strictly all the instructions the same recruitment company had given, but I had also been able to reach the 212 and even more! I don’t know what happened! The only possibility I can think of is that they may have stuck the poster a little bit higher…
We all have a body schema, and mine told me that I was able to reach that height, but it was wrong, apparently. Some seconds later (or before… now I don’t remember) there was a girl who was more or less the same hight as me, who said to another girl something like, “when you look at it, you think it’s impossible to reach the top, but in the end you realise can do it”… The complete opposite that happened to me! And she was not that tall!
I would be really sad if I got to know that I could have reached the top of the poster if I had got nearer or that I could have made more effort with my legs to stand on tip toes… But well, I did the best I could under those circumstances at that moment, on that day, on which I was so tired and nervous – we had been standing for a long time in the queue waiting to be called, and it was really cold.
I would also be really sad if I got to know the poster was stuck higher than the 212 cms they ask for…
I hope they call me anyway, I hope they can give me the chance to show everything I can offer and do for the company, even if I lack some milimitres…
    I’m so sad… I’m so hopeless :(
I hope someone could give me some hope… I don’t want to let my dream die, but I’m afraid I will have to if I see that nobody gives me this chance… Maybe I should just accept it, I should accept that this is not my destiny, I should accept my fate… This is so sad for me…

    • Kara

      @Alejandra,

This must be so difficult for you. Building up and preparing ands getting stuck at the minimum requirement. I can’t imagine what happened. The 212 mark is standard and normally there shouldn’t be any mistakes in measuring this height. Did you try re-measuring at home? No matter what, keep on stretching and practicing and go back there and try again. I wish I had some more words of encouragement…

      Abrazos,

      -Kara
